About Trish

Welcome! I know searching out a therapist can be a tough step for many of us and I am honored you have considered trusting me with your wellness journey.

I began my professional career receiving my M.A in Counseling Psychology (Trinity International University) in 2005.  I decided at that time I really wanted to specialize in working with children & adolescents in crisis and spent the next five years providing individual & family therapy in private practice as well as providing crisis support and assessments in local emergency rooms.  In 2010 I took a leadership role at a Chicagoland non profit community mental health center and spent a few years providing therapy on their child & adolescent team as well as supervision to the clinicians.

This was around the time I began to really practice what I was preaching.  You see... in 2013, my partner Roy & I decided to become foster parents.  It’s a long story but basically, at the age of forty, I became a mom in a transracial family of five siblings ages 9 - 16.  Since then we have had some of our older kids move out, and we have welcomed in a few younger ones.

It hasn’t been easy, but it has given me a first hand understanding of the challenges of parenting, esp parenting kids with anxiety, depression, trauma histories and attachment struggles that lead to family conflict, IEP’s, ER visits, social skills deficits, substance abuse, involvement with the local the justice system and difficulty launching into adulthood.  I have also come to personally understand how stress can impact our physical & emotional health.

So now as I work with kids, parents, or anyone looking to improve their overall wellness, I bring to our sessions a passion for seeing you not only survive this season, but to feel supported and successful.  I come from a holistic perspective where we will not only process your story, but look at various traditional & complementary interventions that can help your body, mind & soul.  My goal in working with you is to help you create a unique plan that fits your situation today and actually works to make your life better tomorrow.

We cannot do this alone,

Trish
